Terms of Use.

These Terms of Use explain the rules for using SleepSpill, creating an account, posting dreams, commenting, liking posts, following users, receiving notifications, reporting content, and participating in the SleepSpill community.

These Terms are written for SleepSpill’s public beta launch. They are meant to be clear and protective, but they are not a substitute for advice from a qualified attorney. By using SleepSpill, you agree to follow these Terms, the Community Guidelines, the Privacy Policy, and the Safety & Reporting rules.

1. Acceptance of these Terms

By accessing SleepSpill, creating an account, browsing the site, posting a dream, writing a comment, liking content, following another user, editing a profile, uploading a profile picture, reporting content, or using any SleepSpill feature, you agree to these Terms of Use. You also agree to follow SleepSpill’s Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines, Safety & Reporting rules, and any other rules or notices posted on the site.

If you do not agree with these Terms, do not create an account or use SleepSpill. If you are using SleepSpill on behalf of another person or organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms for them.

2. About SleepSpill

SleepSpill is a public dream-sharing and discussion platform. Users can post remembered dreams, dream fragments, dream-related questions, comments, profile bios, likes, follows, and related community content. SleepSpill exists for personal expression, memory, curiosity, and community discussion.

SleepSpill is not a medical, psychological, therapy, crisis, legal, financial, religious, paranormal, or professional advice service. Any dream discussion, interpretation, or comment posted by users should be treated as personal opinion or community conversation only.

3. Public beta status

SleepSpill may operate as a public beta while features are being tested, improved, changed, or removed. During beta, parts of the website may change quickly, contain bugs, experience downtime, or behave differently than expected.

SleepSpill may add, remove, rename, redesign, limit, pause, or discontinue features at any time, including accounts, feeds, notifications, profile tools, privacy settings, moderation tools, reporting tools, and community features.

4. Minimum age requirement

You must be at least 16 years old to create or use a SleepSpill account. By registering, you confirm that your date of birth is accurate and that you meet the minimum age requirement.

SleepSpill may collect your date of birth during registration to confirm age eligibility. Your date of birth is treated as an account eligibility detail and is not publicly displayed on your profile.

Your date of birth is locked after registration and cannot be changed from account settings. If your date of birth was entered incorrectly, you must contact SleepSpill support. SleepSpill may require additional review before correcting locked account details.

Accounts that appear to violate age requirements may be restricted, suspended, deleted, or required to provide additional confirmation. SleepSpill may refuse registration, access, or continued use if it believes the account does not meet the age requirement.

5. Account registration and account security

To post dreams, comment, like content, follow users, receive notifications, edit your profile, or use account-based features, you may need an account. You agree to provide accurate information and keep your account information reasonably up to date.

  • You must use an email address you control.
  • You must keep your password secure.
  • You may not share, sell, rent, transfer, trade, or give away your account.
  • You may not create accounts using false identity information, impersonation, disposable abuse patterns, or automated tools.
  • You may not create accounts to evade moderation, suspensions, bans, restrictions, rate limits, or safety actions.
  • You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account unless the activity results from SleepSpill’s own security failure.
  • You should contact SleepSpill if you believe your account has been compromised.

6. Username, display name, profile, and identity

Your username, display name, profile picture, bio, and public profile activity help identify you inside the SleepSpill community. You may not impersonate another person, staff member, company, organization, public figure, or another SleepSpill user.

Username changes may not be available at launch. SleepSpill may keep certain account details locked to protect account identity, moderation history, reports, user safety, and platform integrity. If username changes are added later, SleepSpill may limit how often usernames can be changed or preserve username history for moderation and security purposes.

7. Email verification and required account notices

SleepSpill may require email verification before allowing access to account features. By creating an account, you agree to receive required account-related emails, including verification, password reset, security alerts, moderation notices, policy notices, service notices, and important account communications.

Optional newsletters, product updates, or community updates are only sent if you opt in where required. You can unsubscribe from optional marketing or update emails where an unsubscribe option is available, but required account and service emails may still be sent.

8. User content ownership

You keep ownership of the dreams, comments, profile bio, and other original content you submit to SleepSpill. SleepSpill does not claim ownership of your original dream posts simply because you posted them on the platform.

You are responsible for the content you post. Do not post content you do not have the right to share. Do not post another person’s private writing, images, personal information, or copyrighted material unless you have permission or a lawful right to do so.

9. License you give SleepSpill

By submitting, posting, uploading, or displaying content on SleepSpill, you give SleepSpill a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, format, adapt for display, transmit, moderate, remove, and make your content available as part of the SleepSpill service.

This license allows SleepSpill to show your content in feeds, public dream pages, profile pages, search or discovery features, category pages, follower feeds, notifications, moderation tools, report queues, admin tools, backups, and other site features. It also allows SleepSpill to operate, protect, improve, debug, and promote the platform.

This license does not mean SleepSpill owns your original dreams. It means SleepSpill has permission to use your content as needed to provide and maintain the service.

10. Public content and visibility

SleepSpill is public by design. Public dreams, comments, usernames, display names, avatars, profile bios, likes, follows, follower counts, following counts, profile stats, and activity may be visible to other users or visitors depending on your settings and the feature being used.

Do not post anything you do not want other people to see, quote, screenshot, save, copy, discuss, or share. Even if you delete content later, others may have already viewed it, saved it, screenshotted it, quoted it, cached it, or shared it outside SleepSpill.

11. Profile privacy settings

SleepSpill may offer privacy controls for public profile visibility, followers lists, following lists, and profile statistics. These controls are intended to help users manage public profile exposure, but they are not a guarantee of complete privacy.

Privacy settings may not hide all activity everywhere. For example, your comments, reports, moderation history, likes, notifications, profile activity, or content connected to safety reviews may still be visible to you, staff, system tools, moderation tools, or affected users where appropriate.

12. Follows, likes, comments, notifications, and recommendations

SleepSpill may allow users to like dreams, comment on posts, follow other users, receive notifications, and view suggested users or content. These features are meant for normal community interaction and may not be used to harass, pressure, intimidate, stalk, manipulate, spam, or target other users.

SleepSpill may generate notifications for actions such as follows, likes, comments, moderation activity, account updates, or other site features. SleepSpill may change how notifications work at any time.

Suggested content or suggested users may be based on public activity, dream types, follows, likes, recent posts, or other platform signals. Suggestions are not endorsements and may be changed, limited, or removed.

13. Community behavior rules

You agree not to use SleepSpill to:

  • Harass, threaten, stalk, bully, shame, intimidate, or target another person.
  • Post hate, slurs, dehumanizing content, or abusive attacks based on identity, background, or personal characteristics.
  • Post explicit sexual content, sexual solicitation, adult roleplay, or pornographic material.
  • Post sexual content involving minors, real or fictional, under any circumstance.
  • Encourage self-harm, suicide, violence, abuse, exploitation, dangerous challenges, or criminal behavior.
  • Post private personal information without permission, including addresses, phone numbers, private emails, legal names, workplace details, school details, or sensitive images.
  • Impersonate another person, staff member, brand, organization, or public figure.
  • Spam dreams, comments, likes, follows, reports, profile updates, accounts, links, or messages.
  • Scam, phish, spread malware, distribute suspicious links, or trick users into sharing passwords or private information.
  • Manipulate engagement, fake activity, follower counts, likes, reports, or recommendations.
  • Evade moderation actions or help others evade moderation actions.
  • Use SleepSpill in a way that creates safety risks, disrupts the community, or damages the platform.

14. Dreams involving sensitive topics

Dreams can be emotional, frightening, confusing, personal, dark, or intense. Users may discuss difficult dream themes, but SleepSpill may restrict or remove content that becomes graphic, exploitative, abusive, unsafe, sexually explicit, targeted, threatening, or otherwise inappropriate for the platform.

If a dream or comment involves self-harm, abuse, violence, crisis, or another serious safety concern, SleepSpill may treat it as a safety issue and may limit, remove, report, or escalate content according to platform rules and applicable law.

15. Dream interpretation and advice

SleepSpill users may discuss dreams, ask questions, share reactions, and offer personal interpretations. These conversations are not professional advice.

Do not treat dream interpretations, comments, posts, or community feedback as medical, mental-health, therapy, legal, financial, spiritual, religious, paranormal, or professional guidance. If you need professional help, contact a qualified professional. If you are in immediate danger or crisis, contact emergency services or a local crisis resource.

16. Reports, moderation, and safety reviews

Users may be able to report dreams, comments, profiles, or behavior. Reports help SleepSpill review possible rule violations, safety concerns, abuse, spam, impersonation, harassment, or other issues.

Submitting a report does not guarantee a specific outcome. SleepSpill may decide whether action is needed based on context, severity, safety risk, evidence, user history, repeated behavior, and platform rules.

False, abusive, retaliatory, misleading, or spam reports may result in moderation action. SleepSpill may retain reports and moderation records for safety, enforcement, abuse prevention, and account integrity.

17. Moderation rights

SleepSpill may review, hide, remove, restrict, label, limit, disable, delete, or change the visibility of content at any time if it believes the content violates these Terms, the Community Guidelines, safety rules, legal requirements, or the intended purpose of the platform.

SleepSpill may warn, rate limit, restrict, suspend, disable, delete, or refuse access to accounts when needed. SleepSpill may also limit account features such as posting, commenting, liking, following, reporting, profile editing, notifications, or registration.

Moderation decisions may consider context, pattern of behavior, user history, intent, severity, safety risk, impact on others, and attempts to evade enforcement. SleepSpill is not required to explain every moderation decision in detail.

18. Rate limits, anti-spam controls, and abuse prevention

SleepSpill may limit, throttle, delay, block, or temporarily restrict actions to protect the platform and community. Rate limits may apply to registration, login, password resets, verification emails, dream posting, editing, deleting, comments, likes, follows, reports, profile updates, notifications, and other activity.

You may not bypass or attempt to bypass rate limits, security controls, account restrictions, moderation actions, or abuse-prevention systems. Using bots, scripts, automation, fake accounts, proxies, or coordinated activity to abuse SleepSpill may result in restrictions, suspension, deletion, or blocking.

19. Prohibited technical activity

You agree not to:

  • Attack, scan, scrape, crawl aggressively, overload, disrupt, or interfere with SleepSpill.
  • Attempt unauthorized access to accounts, staff tools, moderation tools, databases, servers, code, or private systems.
  • Reverse engineer, bypass, disable, or tamper with security features, rate limits, CSRF protection, authentication, or access controls.
  • Upload or link malicious files, malware, harmful scripts, exploit code, suspicious downloads, or deceptive login pages.
  • Use automation to create accounts, post dreams, comment, like, follow, report, test passwords, or send repeated requests.
  • Interfere with another user’s ability to use SleepSpill safely.

20. Content removal and account deletion

You may be able to delete your account or remove certain content using account tools. Deletion may remove your profile and associated content from normal public view, but some information may remain where needed for safety, security, abuse prevention, moderation history, legal compliance, backups, debugging, system integrity, or recordkeeping.

Content may also remain visible if it was copied, cached, screenshotted, quoted, indexed, archived, saved, or shared by others before deletion. SleepSpill cannot control content once another person has copied it outside the platform.

21. Staff, admin tools, and access levels

SleepSpill may use role-based access levels for support, moderators, admins, development, management, and founder accounts. Staff tools may allow authorized users to review reports, moderate content, manage accounts, suspend users, delete accounts, investigate abuse, or perform safety actions.

Staff access is limited to platform operation, safety, moderation, support, debugging, and administrative needs. Abuse of staff tools may result in removal of access or other action.

22. Third-party links and services

SleepSpill may contain links to third-party websites, email services, image resources, hosting providers, embedded assets, or other external services. SleepSpill is not responsible for third-party websites, content, policies, security, availability, or actions.

If you leave SleepSpill through a third-party link, you are responsible for reviewing that third party’s own terms and privacy policies.

23. No guarantee of data preservation

SleepSpill is not a guaranteed archive or backup service. Dreams, comments, likes, follows, profile details, notifications, settings, reports, and other data may be lost, changed, removed, corrupted, restricted, deleted, or unavailable due to bugs, moderation, user action, maintenance, hosting issues, database issues, security incidents, or platform changes.

If a dream or memory is important to you, keep your own backup outside SleepSpill.

24. Disclaimers

SleepSpill is provided “as is” and “as available.” SleepSpill does not promise that the website will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, complete, accurate, available at all times, or suitable for every user.

SleepSpill does not endorse or verify user content, dream interpretations, advice, comments, profiles, or links posted by users. You use SleepSpill at your own discretion and risk.

25. Limitation of responsibility

To the fullest extent allowed by law, SleepSpill and its operators are not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; lost data; lost access; emotional distress; reputational harm; user conduct; user content; third-party links; service interruptions; moderation decisions; or damages connected to using or being unable to use the platform.

Some locations do not allow certain limitations, so some of these limitations may not apply to you.

26. Indemnity

To the extent allowed by law, you agree to be responsible for claims, disputes, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorney fees, that arise from your content, your use of SleepSpill, your violation of these Terms, your violation of another person’s rights, or your misuse of the platform.

27. Termination

SleepSpill may suspend, restrict, disable, delete, or terminate your account or access to the site at any time if SleepSpill believes you violated these Terms, created safety risks, abused the platform, violated the law, or harmed the community. You may stop using SleepSpill at any time.

28. Changes to these Terms

SleepSpill may update these Terms as the platform changes. The updated version may be posted on this page with a new effective date or update notice. Continued use of SleepSpill after updates means you accept the updated Terms.

If changes are significant, SleepSpill may provide notice through the website, account notices, email, or another reasonable method.

29. Contact
